Orlando Pirates host Cape Town City with their top three ambitions at stake in the DStv Premiership at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
The Bucs are on a roll. They are six wins on the bounce in all competitions Dondol Stars 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in a Nedbank Cup clash on 15 April 15.
Pirates are third on the league table – a point behind second-placed SuperSport United with a game in hand and two points above fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs.
City are enjoying a sixth-match unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership having drawn 2-2 with AmaZulu FC on 9 April.
The Citizens occupy fifth but are eight points behind Pirates. The team that finishes third will feature in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Pirates might see Makhehleni Makhaula, Vincent Pule and Richard Ofori return to full match fitness.
Brice Ambina and Thabo Nodada are both suspended, while Nathan Idumba Fasika and Jordan Bender are both currently injured for the guests.
“We both need the points for different targets at this moment,” Riveiro said.
“Who knows in two or three games where we are going to be, maybe we will be fighting for the same position.
“So far, I think it’s going to be a difficult game. Cape Town is an excellent squad, well organised, well coached.”
Cape Town City head coach Erick Tinkler adds: “I feel for the players because they worked their socks off, they applied the strategy exactly as planned [against AmaZulu])
“It feels like a loss, it doesn’t feel like a draw. I feel like I lost this game and I think they feel the same way.
“Pirates are a team in good form, we have to apply ourselves extremely well. We’ll have to play without any fear and play a good brand of football.”
