Sundowns, meanwhile, comes into this match having claimed four straight wins in the league after they secured a narrow 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld Stadium through a decisive goal from Sphelele Mkhulise.

The draw leaves Maritzburg in 13th place on the table with 11 points after 11 games, while Sundowns’ victory saw them remain at the top of the league table – level on 22 points with second-placed Richards Bay after 10 matches played so far this season.

The Team of Choice will be hoping to replicate their form against the Brazilians as they did last year after they walked away with a 2-1 win over the defending champions at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

John Maduka has no players on the injury list but will be without Makhehlene Makhaula and Tercious Malepe, who will serve a match suspension.

Manqoba Mngqithi is expected to be without Brian Onyango, Terrence Mashego and Abubeker Nasir through injury, while Aubrey Modiba will serve a match suspension.

Friday Samu will be relishing to chance to continue his form in front of goal after he earned his side a point after scoring the equalising goal against AmaZulu in his previous appearances for United.

Marcelo Allende will look to shine in the absence of the injured Peter Shalulile, having already netted two goals in the league with his most recent goal coming against AmaZulu.
