Champions League

Barcelona face the very real prospect of Champions League elimination as they prepare to host Inter Milan at the Nou Camp.

Last week, Inter managed to hold onto a 1-0 victory which put them six points clear in the group. Leaders Bayern have a flawless record – and who are unlikely to drop points against Viktoria Plzen – which leaves Barcelona in grave danger in Group C.

It would be the second successive season and heap pressure onto manager Xavi.

Despite leading LaLiga ahead of the weekend’s El Classico, the manager is sweating on the continental troubles he is facing.

“We need to go out for everything and need to be positive,” said Xavi.

“We have to try to not feel the pressure and enjoy the game.”

“It’s an amazing scene seeing the Camp Nou full, it’s something to enjoy and if they win, even better. If they win the match it will change the dynamic of the group,” said the ex-Barca midfielder.

“We’re expecting similar to what we saw in the other leg; Inter Milan are very defensive, normally very far back with their medium block.

“We’ve been working hard in our training to work on their block and I think we’ve improved from the Barca of the last 15 minutes in Milan.”

Barcelona have not lost at Camp Nou in any competition since May.

Inter won last week despite two defeats in a row in the Serie A and now start this tie on the back of a good win over Sassuolo.

Inter lost 2-1 to Barcelona away back in 2019 but will be boosted by Romelu Lukaku’s return to fitness.

Andreas Christensen, Hector Bellerin, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay and Jules Kounde remain on the sidelines for Barcelona.
