Holders Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their MTN8 title defence when they welcome Tshwane rivals SuperSport United to the ABSA Tuks Stadium in the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.
Sundowns will be high in confidence after their 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC. And yet again it was Peter Shalulile amongst the scorers.
SuperSport needed a penalty from Bradley Grobler to edge Richards Bay on Wednesday.
When the two teams faced off last season, Sundowns held a slight advantage after a 2-2 draw and a 1-0 win.
But in the Cup it’s a different story. When they met in this competition in 2019, Matsatsantsa managed to get the better of Sundowns claiming a comfortable 2-0 victory in the semi-finals.
Marcelo Allende will be full of confidence coming into this fixture after he netted the final goal against Stellenbosch on his debut for the Brazilians.
Bradley Grobler will look to build on his current form for United after finding the back of the net on two occasions in his last five appearances.
