Mamelodi Sundowns will look to secure back-to-back wins in the DStv Premiership when they take on Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.
Sekhukhune hope to return to winning ways after they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay this weekend.
Sundowns start high in confidence after they cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
Peter Shalulile scoring a brace while Gaston Sirino and Abubeker Nasir also got their names on the scoresheet at Loftus Versfeld Stadium over the weekend.
Sekhukhune are in ninth place on the log with four points while Sundowns’ win sees them climb up to fourth with six points from their first three matches.
Sekhukhune United and Mamelodi Sundowns have only ever met twice before in the DStv Premiership, with the Brazilians coming out on top in both matches with a score line of 2-0 in both home and away fixtures.
“We accept the victory with a lot of humility and that makes us congratulate the players for an excellent performance, congratulations to the technical team for excellent work behind the scenes and to pick the boys up and try to get us ready for what we anticipated to be a very difficult match and that’s what we got today,” Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena said.
“We were very content with how the game went against Galaxy, but just not the result.
“Then today we also in patches played very well where we started very, very well.
“The first 20-25 minutes was a reflection of the work we did on the training pitch alongside the work the analysts did behind the scenes.
“Again congratulations to the players, congratulations to the technical team, to the club in its entirety and to the supporters.
“This win soothes the pain of the midweek performance and result.”
Neither team has injury concerns.
Victor Letsoalo will be relishing the chance to emulate his form from last campaign which saw him net 14 goals in the league especially after failing to score in his first three games of this season.
Peter Shalulile, meanwhile, will look to continue his current scoring momentum after bagging a brace against Kaizer Chiefs in his previous match for Sundowns.
