SuperSport United will be looking to build on their recent win over Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership when they travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to take on Marumo Gallants in Polokwane on Saturday evening.
Vhadau vhadamani will be hoping to bounce back after they shared their spoils with Swallows FC when they played out to a 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium this past weekend after Katlego Otladisa cancelled out Ruzaigh Gamildien’s second-minute opener.
Gallants now find themselves in 11th place on the table – level on 30 points with Sekhukhune United in 10th place after 25 matches played so far this season.
SuperSport will be looking for back-to-back wins in the league after they defeated Kaizer Chiefs by 1-0 at the FNB Stadium in their previous game which saw Thamsanqa Gabuza score the only goal of the match.
The win sees United remain in eighth place on the league table with 34 points from 25 matches, four points ahead of their next opponents.
SuperSport United coach Andre Arendse says: “We were struggling to keep clean sheets and just as important as getting three points was important to keep the clean sheet, so credit to Ronwen [Williams] and the back-four.
“It’s been a difficult week, I’m not going to lie, on and off the pitch for us as a team. As a club, we had to cope with it, deal with it but it was important for us to bounce back and as big as this game was just because it’s Kaizer Chiefs, it made it a bit more special as well.
“And I’m going to let the players have that, they are in good spirits at the moment but to keep that momentum until the rest of the season that’s going to be important and I don’t think that’s going to be a difficult job for me.
“You can hear by the celebrations that this is something they want to keep going until the rest of the season at the very least.”
Coming into this fixture, SuperSport has the advantage in head-to-head stats with three wins in their last five previous meetings, while Gallants have won two, claiming a win in the previous match between them at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on 20 November 2021.
Dan Malesela and Andre Arendse will both have fully fit squads for the clash in Polokwane as all their respective players will be available for selection with no injuries or suspensions to report.
Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo will be relishing the chance to find the back of the net after failing to score in his last three games, despite scoring six goals in his last seven league matches.
Thamsanqa Gabuza will have to chance to continue his form in front of goal when he comes up against Gallants after scoring his
seventh league goal in their most recent game against Kaizer Chiefs.
