There is a chaotic midweek fixture list for PSL fans to enjoy as teams look to make a fast start to the new campaign.
Chippa United, coached by Gavin Hunt and with a barely recognisable squad following so many new arrivals, host the defending champions. Sundowns continue to assert their dominance and started with a win over Amazulu. It was close and this one could be another tie decided by a single goal.
Gallants host Orlando Pirates but not the super-power Bucs you used to know. Pirates still reeling from losing their coach before the first game, and of course the Carling Cup loss to Kaizer Chiefs, managed a draw against Stellenbosch. A trip to Limpopo and low of confidence could spell trouble for Pirates.
Both matches kick off at 5pm.
SuperSport host Golden Arrows.
Amazulu host Swallows.
Kaizer Chiefs host Baroka.
Royal AM host Cape Town City FC.
Maritzburg United host Sekhukhune United.
Stellenbosch United host TS Galaxy.
Now that’s as wild as it gets so early in the season. All but the first game kick off at 5pm and few matches offer outright certainty in terms of calling a winner.
Chiefs will be fancied to beat Baroka but the visitors will be full of confidence after opening with a win over Gallants. Amakhosi on the other hand couldn’t beat TS Galaxy. SuperSport should have too much for Arrows and Cape Town City should be able to get over the line against Royal AM even if they are on the road for this one.
The rest? Draws seems more likely as we are still in the early season phase where teams prefer to take a point than risk going all out and leaving empty handed.
