Manchester City and Liverpool are in action as the Premier League serves up five games on Wednesday evening.
Burnley host league leaders Manchester City at Turf Moor at 8pm with the visitors needing a point to go clear – beyond goal difference – with rivals Manchester United.
Burnley’s winning run – two consecutive victories – came to a halt against Chelsea as they hover two points over the drop zone.
Their form cannot match City, who will match Arsenal’s 2002 run of 13 successive wins in all competitions if they prevail.
Burnley will look to their home form; they have won four of their last six home league matches while Pep Guardiola’s City will start with the record of seven wins against this opposition in all competitions by an aggregate score of 28-1.
Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood remain doubtful while Riyad Mahrez will hope to start; his favourite opposition. The Algerian has eight goals against Burnley which includes seven strikes in his last four appearances. Plus Sergio Aguero might get some minutes off the bench.
Ominious times for Burnley fans.
Suggested bet: City to win, more than 2.5 match goals and Mahrez to score (Jengabet)
Liverpool host Brighton at 10:15pm with the Seagulls starting with a bit of form. Percy Tau’s teammates have earned seven points from their last nine available to move seven points clear of 18th place Aston Villa.
The Reds haven’t won 3 in a row since September which has seen them drop into third. A win over Brighton will tee up Jurgen Klopp’s side nicely for their next tie – an Anfield battle royale against Man City.
The visitors have not beaten Liverpool home or away in any competition since January 1984. Don’t expect that to change tonight even with Sadio Mane unfit for the contest.
Suggested bet: Liverpool to win 3-0 at
