Jose Mourinho goes up against his former employers Chelsea on Thursday without Harry Kane to call on.
The Premier League’s only game of the day will pit Mourinho against Thomas Tuchel for the first time.
Both sides were thought of as title contenders this season but both have seen their credentials heavily dented. Instead, this contest is between seventh-placed Spurs and eighth-placed Chelsea; although the hosts have a game in hand, they both have 33 points. That is already 14 points off the pace set by leaders Manchester City.
Mourinho has plenty of personnel issues to solve beyond the absence of Kane, his talisman.
Dele Alli, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso are definitely out of this fixture while defender Serge Aurier is unlikely to play after falling out with the manager over his substitution in the recent loss against Liverpool.
Gareth Bale is struggling for form which should provide enough hope for Chelsea, themselves in indifferent form with one win in their last three league outings.
However, key midfielder N’Golo Kante should return for the Blues with Kai Havertz expected to be fit.
