The top three teams in the PSL were all held to draws as Cape Town City bounced back with a commanding victory.
The Citizens had Surprise Ralani to thank as they helped coach Jan Olde Riekerink become the first CT City manager to win at Thohoyandou Stadium. The result pushed the Cape side into fifth place ahead of Pirates and Chiefs and level with Golden Arrows.
Elsewhere, SuperSport United played to a 1-1 draw at home against Benni McCarthy’s Amazulu. The draw leaves them in third, two points off the pace set by Sundowns. Masandawana were held by Bloem Celtic which meant Swallows had the chance to move past the defending champions.
Unfortunately, the fairytale was not to be written into fact as Swallows were held to a 1-1 draw – and yes Ruzaigh Gamieldien did get onto the scoresheet again – against Chippa United.
