Juventus will be looking to make home advantage count when Sevilla come to Turin for the first-leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Juve drew 1-1 with Sporting in an entertaining Europa League clash on Thursday to win their quarterfinal 2-1 on aggregate and set up a semi-final clash with Sevilla.
After a 2-2 quarter-final first leg draw at Old Trafford, Manchester United were soundly thumped 3-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar said his side followed the gameplan and didn’t allow Manchester United to get a foothold in the game.
“Our idea was to press them when they had the ball at the back, I think it went quite well, we scored the first goal robbing the ball on the edge of their box,” said the coach.
“Aside from the goals, I think that we stopped the opponent and they didn’t play in any moment with comfort.
“I think we were superior…I think it was the merit of our players.”
His side start as underdogs away from home and so he might want to adopt the same high pressing game that worked so well in the previous round.
The home crowd might’ve watched that match and will be keen to make their own noise.
Juventus are currently a distant second in the Serie A to winners Napoli but have won two matches in a row.
Domestically, Sevilla have struggled. While they are down in 11th place, they have indeed won four of their last five games in LaLiga to go with their victory against the Red Devils.
In the 2015 and 2016 Champions League editions, these two clubs faced off against one another four times. Juve won twice, Sevilla posted one victory and one match ended with a draw.
