Ahead of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations 2023 qualifier against Liberia, we pick the team to win the game.
Hugo Broos has plenty of attacking options to choose from as he looks to secure Bafana a place in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We are confident. We played four good (friendly) games in September and November,” said Broos.
“There was one game that was less remarkable. It was against Botswana, but that was my responsibility. I changed the whole team to see the players that I had not seen so much in action.
“We have a close group. We feel these two matches will be a mental struggle. It is always better when you have a close group than having players who do not like to be in the team.”
But before the coach picks his team, we have our own options.
Ronwen Williams is a given after his good form for Sundowns. He will be joined by teammates Teboho Mokoena and Mothobi Mvala, who will operate just ahead of the defence.
Monnapule Saleng, who has been in blistering form for Orlando Pirates, and Al Ahly’s Percy Tau will operate on either side of Burnley forward Lyle Foster. He scored his first Burnley goal recently in the EFL Cup.
That leaves another Sundowns star, Themba Zwane, to float in and around the number 10 role.
The defence should be a relatively straight forward linuep.
Kick-off at the Orlando Stadium on Friday night is at 6pm.
