They moved into the fourth round off the back of a 5-1 thrashing of Middlesbrough.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men now host Liverpool and will be looking for consecutive wins over Liverpool for the very first time after their 3-0 demolition earlier this month.

The Reds are out of form with one win in their last five matches (D2, L2). Jürgen Klopp’s men showed some mettle in winning a tricky third round replay against Wolves 1-0.

That was before a forgettable 0-0 draw against Chelsea at home.

The fourth round has been a stumbling block for Klopp, his side has bowed out at this stage of the competition in four of their last six attempts.

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister bagged a brace in Brighton’s win over Middlesbrough and five of his last six goals have now crucially arrived after half-time.

Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott scored the winner against Wolves and when he scores, the team wins. It’s five from five from that point of view.
