He may have been excellent in the various penalties he had to face but his extra time save to deny France the would be winner was arguably one of the game’s greatest saves.
2. Achraf Hakimi
Morocco made history for Africa and their right back was part and parcel for their success. They barely conceded a goal all tournament and Hakimi was brilliant throughout in leading the way.
3. Marcos Acuna
A real bulldog in defence, the left back was superb in the final and displayed the kind of passion that inspired his team to victory.

Gave everything all tournament before eventually be subbed in extra time against Argentina. A superb defender and organised the backline very well.
5. Josko Gvardiol
Croatia continued their excellent run in major events based on their defensive efforts which was led by their centre back.
6. Sofyan Amrabat
The Moroccan midfielder was one of the true standout players in Qatar. Managed to do the work off three in midfield.
7. Luka Modric
Class is permanent and Modric showed that as he rolled back the clock with a fine showing in Qatar.
8. Kylian Mbappe
A hat-trick in the final showed that he is ready to rival Messi in the long run as one of the game’s most lethal scorers. Golden Boot enough consolation for losing in the finals.
9. Antoine Griezmann
France’s leading player along with Mbappe all tournament. It was a shame that his side started so slowly in the finale.
10. Lionel Messi
Nothing left to say about the greatest of all time. His records stand unrivalled.
11. Olivier Giroud
Proved again that he is best in French national colours. Went toe to toe with Julian Alvarez in the race to catch Messi and Mbappe in the scoring charts.
