Darwin Gonzalez and Nathan Fasika scored as Cape Town City dominated proceedings during their 2-0 league win over Kaizer Chiefs.
City were the better team during the opening half and were unlucky to only take a one goal lead into the break.
Despite some pressure early in the second period, it was City who hammered home the advantage as Fasika powered home a header with 30 minutes to play.
“I think we started the game very, very slow, very sluggish,” Chiefs’ coach Artur Zwane after the game.
“We allowed them time and space on the board. And we knew that they wanted to drop the ball behind.
“We actually prepared for that,” he added.
“I think we gave them that advantage, we were struggling for first 20 to 30 minutes, but I think last 15 minutes of the first half, we got better. So we went to halftime, calmed down, and we had to change the strategy.
“When you’re chasing the game, you can easily concede, so a lapse of concentration from a dead ball was disappointing. As soon as they scored the second one, then we were chasing the game all the time.
“We could have maybe got one back and then put them under pressure, but we still couldn’t take the opportunity. We were not clinical. We’re just not moving enough to free ourselves,” he added.
Amakhosi have won two and lost three of their opening five games.
