Koulibaly finally to make EPL move

Premier League

Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with Napoli to sign long-term target defender Kalidou Koulibaly as they look to rebuild their defensive department for the upcoming season.

According to reports, a deal is expected to be closed on Wednesday for a transfer fee of around £32m (€38m) and £33.7m (€40m) that could see the Senegalese defender complete a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 31-year-old is also expected to be offered a five-year contract worth around £160,000 per week (£8.2m a year) net plus bonuses.

Koulibaly, who has one year left on his Napoli contract, made 27 Serie A appearances last season for a Napoli side as he played a crucial role in helping his side finish third in the table.

The Senegalese international has made over 300 appearances for the Serie A club since joining from Belgian side Genk eight years ago.

Chelsea are eager to bolster their defensive department after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, to Real Madrid and Barcelona on free transfers.
