Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil from Botola Pro Inwi outfit SC Chabab Mohammedia, according to his former club.

The 24-year-old will now join the club to fill the void left by Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento, who has since joined fellow DStv Premiership outfit Royal AM after parting ways with the Tshwane giants.

The Brazilians have been huge admirers of the Moroccan defender since last season during his loan spell at Raja Casablanca in the 2021/22 season.

Boutouil has now become Sundowns’ third signing during the current transfer window following the arrival of Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United and Abubeker Nassir from Ethiopian Coffee.

The centre back brings a wealth of experience, having previously turned out for FAR Rabat, KAC Kénitra, Royale Union Saint Gilloise, SC Chabab Mohammedia and Raja Club Athletic.

Boutouil’s former club made the announcement of his move to Sundowns on their social media platform, which reads:

“Officially: The player Abdel Moneim Boutawil moves to the South African club Mamelodi Sundowns @Masandawana. All the best Abdel Moneim,” the translated tweet said.
