Chippa United have confirmed that the club has placed interim coach Kurt Lentjies on special leave.
Lentjies took over the helm at the Chilli Boys on an interim basis in November last year after the club opted to suspend former head coach Gavin Hunt before he was eventually sacked a month later.

The 37-year-old mentor successfully helped the Chilli Boys avoid relegation after the club finished in 14th place at the end of the 2021-22 DStv Premiership season.
However, Lentjies has since been put on “special leave” while the club go in search of a new head coach to become a permanent successor to Hunt.
The Chilli Boys have since issued a statement confirming their plans for the technical team for the upcoming season.

“This serves to advise that Chippa United Football Club is still in the process of deliberating the vacancy of the head coach position. Since the departure of coach Gavin Hunt, the club has not permanently filled the vacancy. During this period player Kurt Lentjies acted as the interim coach.
“Whilst pondering the way forward on the head coaching position and holding interviews etc and allowing the process to take place in the most fair manner, the club has taken a decision to place Kurt Lentjies, who naturally has an interest in the matter, on special leave. The club will issue a statement upon its decision on the way forward.”
