AmaZulu FC have announced the signing of veteran midfielder George Maluleka from Mamelodi Sundowns, while former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho has completed a move to Danish outfit HB Koge.
Maluleka parted ways with Sundowns after his contract with the Tshwane giants expired in June after spending two years at Chloorkop, where he made 19 appearances in all competitions, while scoring just one goal and registered four assists.
The veteran midfielder brings a wealth of experience and has netted 23 goals and assisted a further 41 in 316 across all competitions previously turning out for Ajax Cape Town, SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs and most recently Sundowns.
Maluleka has since become Usuthu’s sixth signing during the current transfer window behind the likes of Dumsani Zungu, Ethan Brooks, Gabadinho Mhango, Olwethu Mzimela and Rally Bwalya ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Usuthu club president Sandile Zungu made the announcement on the club’s social media pages: “We are very excited about him because not only does he have the pedigree for winning trophies but he’s also gonna offer us balance in that midfield, he’s the perfect fit for us. He’s very delighted to join us and we’re happy to have him at Usuthu.”
Meanwhile, former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho will remain in Denmark after he secured a move to HB Køge ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Gordinho recently parted ways with Danish side Viborg FF, where he spent two seasons after the club decided against renewing his contract for the season ahead.
Although there was a possibility of him returning to South Africa, the defender put an end to speculation surrounding his future after putting pen to a one-and-a-half year contract with HB Koge
Now, Gordinho has penned a one-and-a-half-year deal with HB Køge, and he’s excited to join the club after being attracted by what they are trying to achieve in the Danish league.
The former Bidvest Wits defender is now expected to wear the No 5 jersey as he joins his new team for pre-season as they begin preparations for the season ahead.
“From the first time I heard from the club, I became interested in the project here and in working with Daniel and the rest of the coaching staff at HB Køge. There is a clear strategy, and I am convinced that I can adapt and fit in,” Gordinho told his new club’s official website.
“I have gotten used to Danish football already, so I hope I can contribute on the field quickly. I want to help the team and I look forward to working with and growing under the club’s coaching staff who have a good understanding of the game and know what they want. That is why it was also easy for me to see a good future here.”
