Wales will resume their UEFA Nations League campaign when they welcome the Netherlands to the Cardiff City Stadium in their League A Group 4 clash on Wednesday evening.
The Dragons will come into this fixture high in confidence after reaching their first World Cup in 64 year following their narrow 1-0 victory over Ukraine in their World Cup qualification playoffs match played at the Cardiff City Stadium through a Andriy Yarmolenko own goal on Sunday.
The Netherlands will be looking to continue their form in the group following their shock 4-1 hammering of Belgium after a Memphis Depay brace and goals from Steven Bergwijn and Denzel Dumfries handed the Oranje a comfortable win at the Koning Boudewijn Stadion last Friday.
Wale and the Netherlands currently occupy third and fourth place in the League A Group 4 standings but both nations are yet to acquire their first point in the group stages.
Wales manager Robert Page says: “We will go out there with the confidence we have had going into any game. We will go toe to toe with anybody — bring it on. That’s the attitude we have got in that changing room.”
Wales have met the Netherlands on eight previous occasions with the Oranje coming out on top in all eight of them.
Page has a choice to make to play in-form goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey following his heroics against Ukraine as Danny Ward is itching for the chance to prove his worth between the sticks.
Louis van Gaal will have a near full complement of players for Wednesday’s clash with the exception of Virgil van Dijk who is going on holiday, with Stefan de Vrij and Matthijs de Ligt both candidates to replace the Liverpool star.
