Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to return to winning ways after they conceded their third consecutive league defeat following their 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban on Wednesday afternoon as Siboniso Conco and Michael Gumede cancelled out Khama Billiat’s opening goal.

Cape Town City are looking to bounce back after they earned a point at Loftus Versfeld Stadium following their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns, who were crowned league champions for the fifth consecutive season.

The Citizens remain in third place on the league table with 41 points from 25 matches, two points ahead of Chiefs and four behind second-placed Royal Am, with a game in hand.

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says: “I’m a coach that wants to win football matches and I wanted to keep winning.

“We have had a good season so far since the turn of the year. We have found ourselves unbeaten. But you know unbeaten is one thing. Collecting three points is another.

“We have liked to put pressure obviously on Royal AM and closed that gap between ourselves and them. So slight disappointment, but I cannot fault the hard work that the team put in today.”

In head-to-head stats between the two teams, Amakhosi have managed to claim three wins in the last five matches, while City have only claimed one win with their previous match ending in a goalless draw at the DHL Stadium on 15 February 2022.

Neither camp has any injury concerns.

Khama Billiat will be relishing the chance to continue his form in front of goal after ending his six-game goal drought during their 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows on Wednesday afternoon.

Khanyisa Mayo will be itching to score against Amakhosi after he scored four goals in his last eight games to take his goal tally for the season to five in 21 matches across all competitions.
