Inter Milan are set to welcome Liverpool to the San Siro when they face off in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday evening.
Liverpool come into this clash with some confidence after they kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City by securing a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday after Fabinho struck late in the first half at Turf Moor to give their Reds their fourth successive league victory.
Inter Milan will be hoping to return to winning ways after they surrendered their lead at the top of the Serie A table to AC Milan as a result of their 1-1 draw against Napoli at the San Paolo when Lorenzo Insigne’s penalty was cancelled by Edin Dzeko’s 47th-minute equaliser as both teams shared the spoils in Naples.
Mohamed Salah has been ever-present in the Liverpool squad this campaign and once again finds himself as their top scorer with 23 goals and nine assists to his name, with teammate Diogo Jota slowly catching up to him with 17 goals and three assists.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to have a fully fit squad for the match with the exception of Divock Origi, who continues to mend his way back from a muscle injury, while Simone Inzaghi will be without the services of Alessandro Bastoni, Robin Gosens and Joaquín Correa due to injury.
Meanwhile, the majority of Inter’s goals have come from two individuals, including Edin Dzeko, who currently sits on 14 goals, while Lautaro Martínez has bagged two less than him with 12.
