Third-placed Orlando Pirates will be hoping to close the gap on leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on Soweto rivals Swallows FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Dube Birds will be hoping to bounce back after they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Marumo Gallants after Junior Dion’s scored the decisive goal in the 85th minute at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers are high in confidence and are currently on a five-game unbeaten run in the league following their 2-0 win over TS Galaxy at the Orlando Stadium through goals from Bandile Shandu and Collins Makgaka.
Swallows will go into this encounter in 14th place in the DStv Premiership standings on 12 points after they only managed two wins, six draws and suffering seven defeats in 15 matches.
Meanwhile, Pirates are up to third place on the table with 23 points, 14 points behind leaders Sundowns, having only conceded two defeats, played out to eight draws and claiming five victories from 15 matches thus far.
In the last meeting between the two teams, Pirates claimed the bragging rights in the Soweto derby after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory at the Orlando Stadium with Tshegofatso Mabasa scoring the only goal of the match.
