Chelsea will be desperately looking to rebound from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to West Ham when they host Leeds at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Blues dramatically lost their place at the top of the Premier League table after slipping up against the Hammers, with Liverpool and Man City moving up to second and third place respectively.

There are just a couple of points separating those top three teams as the Premier League heads into a 16th round of action, with it increasingly appearing that it will be a three-way race for the title.

However, West Ham proved yet again how capable they are after inflicting just a second defeat of the season on Chelsea.

After that shock loss, Thomas Tuchel admitted Chelsea paid the price for too many “individual mistakes”, albeit as Arthur Masuaku’s fortuitous late winner handed West Ham the win.

Chelsea had dominated for long periods but made too many uncharacteristic errors at both ends.

“We need to admit we did too many crucial mistakes at the moment. That cost us points against Manchester United and today as well,” Tuchel said.

“If you want a result at this level you have to minimise mistakes. We talked about it before, it’s obviously not helped…

“Every loss is a bump in the road. We need to be more accurate, more stable and reduce big mistakes.”

Chelsea will next face an important clash against Zenit St. Petersburg in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but that match should enable them to get back to winning ways before facing Leeds.

The Blues are also expected to be boosted by the availability of Mateo Kovacic, with the midfielder having come to the end of his rehabilitation for a hamstring injury. However, in contrasting fortune, it looks like Marcos Alonso and Kai Havertz could both miss the Premier League clash this weekend after being substituted with injuries in Chelsea’s loss to West Ham.

As it stands, Leeds dwindle down in 15th place on the league table, having managed just three wins this season.
