There is plenty to play for on Monday when Ukraine and Austria clash in the final round of matches in Group C at Euro 2020.
It will come as no surprise that the Netherlands cannot be toppled in Group C. The Dutch side will no doubt rest many of their star players against minnows and already eliminated bottom-placed side North Macedonia.
The rest will help the Netherlands prepare to line up against one of the four best third-placed sides in the last 16 in Budapest on 27 June.
With the expanded format in play, attention turns to Ukraine vs Austria. Both sides have a win to their names and a point in this tie could be enough to see both move into the next round.
But who will want to leave that much to chance?
Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko is warning against complacency.
“Austria are a solid team with quality players,” he said.
“They are a compact and athletic side, with a distinctive style. We have huge respect for them and are expecting a good match. Both teams will play to win, even though we know a point will be enough for us. But you won’t go far at this tournament with such a mentality; we will be playing only for a victory.”
Marko Arnautovic returns to the Austrian lineup for this clash and will be constant threat to Ukraine’s bid to retain second place in the group.
Both matches kick off at 6pm.
As it stands:
Netherlands – 6
Ukraine – 3
Austria – 3
North Macedonia – 0
What needs to happen to qualify:
Netherlands are through as group winners.
Ukraine will finish second with a win or draw.
Austria must beat Ukraine to finish second.
North Macedonia cannot finish in the top three.
