In-form Orlando Pirates travel to face Golden Arrows in one of two PSL matches scheduled for Tuesday.
The match at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium kicks off at 5pm with Amazulu hosting Bloemfontein Celtic at 3pm.
Pirates head into the match on an unbeaten run of four games with their last outing a 2-1 Soweto Derby victory. Despite their current form, they find themselves eight points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of Tuesday’s tricky encounter.
Arrows have lost just once all season and are three places further down the table than their their visitors; the hosts are sitting in seventh.
Five of the last seven encounters between Arrows and Orlando Pirates team have ended 0-0 with today’s contest unlikely to have a flood of goals.
The hosts are battling fatigue and injuries ahead of the contest which could tilt this one in Pirates’ favour.
“January has been challenging losing so many of our players for different reasons considering the fact that we don’t have a big squad,” Mandla Ncikazi told the Daily Sun.
“We hardly change our team and I’m praying that the mileage that they have gathered last month doesn’t affect the team negatively against Pirates.”
Matome Mathiane and Gladwin Shitolo will miss the fixture which may further aid Pirates’ push towards closing the gap on Sundowns at the top of the table. A win lifts them level with SuperSport United and Swallows FC, who sit second and third respectively.
On Saturday, the Buccaneers face Uthongathi in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
