Champions League

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea were unable to break the deadlock as they drew 0-0 with Sevilla in their opening Champions League encounter.

“It’s a positive result. I understood the need to get a result in the first game of the group,” Lampard told reporters after the match.

“They’re a really good team, it was an interesting game and I’m happy with the 0-0; it was a big deal to get a clean sheet.”

Chelsea fans were keeping an eye on Thiago Silva, who shrugged off an injury concern to star for the Blues.

“He was very good today. He brought quality and experience and affected others around him and that was a big part of us getting a clean sheet,” added Lampard.
