The General joins us again from Johannesburg to preview the Nedbank Cup semi-finals and look ahead at the PSL which resumes next week.

Bloemfontein Celtic have appointed a new coach in John Maduka. He’s been with the team forever. I don’t think there’s anything new that John will do, it will just be a continuation of where Lehlohonolo Seema left off. I think it will be the Bloemfontein Celtic that we all know with the familiar faces and positions. Plus on the log [in the PSL] they are in a better standing unlike their counterparts Baroka FC.

Baroka FC need to use this game to build some momentum so that they can survive their relegation battle. I doubt Baroka will be putting too much emphasis on this game or the Nedbank Cup final as they have bigger issues to sort out in the PSL by avoiding relegation. I don’t think Baroka will go into the game with a losing mentality, but they do have bigger fish to fry in the league.

Teko’s Tips: I’m going with Bloemfontein Celtic to win. They have a better position in the league and which team deserves the bonuses of a semi-final win more than Bloemfontein Celtic after what they have been going through.

Probably the game of the weekend because Sundowns will want to have a go at Wits. Plus there’s the rivalry between Gavin Hunt and Pitso Mosimane.

Things have changed at Wits after they have been sold [the Clever Boys have sold their PSL status to TTM] and this game will be emotional for the players and they will want to play well.

It’s going to be a very tricky game but the result will be decided by the players and the position the Wits players are in. Gavin Hunt might try some mind games with his players too.

A lot will also depend on how ready the Sundowns players are. We’ve read in the media that they have said they are ready, so that will be interesting to see.

It will also be interesting to see if the extra subs [the PSL and Nedbank Cup are adopting the 5 substitution rule that has been used worldwide post lockdown] as Sundowns probably have more depth in the squad. It will also be interesting to see what will happen if the game goes to extra time because you’ll need to be very strategic with your subs.

Teko’s Tips: I believe that Sundowns will win due to the players that they have and the stability in the team.

Bet on the PSL
