To say that excitement is high for the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns is putting it mildly. Tickets for the showcase event sold out in just 18 hours and a packed Moses Mabhida Stadium will cheer on these two South African giants as they hunt the coveted trophy.
It won’t be easy for Pirates who come into the game on the back of a winless streak as Jose Riverio looks to become only the third coach to win back to back titles. Pirates have previous form of defending their MTN8 title when they won it back to back in 2010/11.
You know that Mamelodi Sundowns will have something to say about that though! They are in imperious winning form, breaking win streak records and putting all who come before them to the sword. Undefeated in 32 league matches and hungry for more silverware, it is unsurprising to see them as slight favourites considering the form of Orlando Pirates at the moment.
