The French Open quarter-finals will bring out some of the best players in head to head battles.

Casper Ruud continued his bid to reach back-to-back finals at Roland Garros by fending off Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in a 7-6(3) 7-5 7-5 fourth-round win on Monday.

BET ON THE FRENCH OPEN LAST EIGHT MATCHES

It means, he will now face Holger Rune for a place in the next round.

Ruud is tipped to win at 1.77 but Rune is fancied at 2.02 which makes it the closest last eight match at Roland Garros to call. It is a rematch of last year’s battle at the same stage.

Ruud has only dropped two sets in four matches so far, so he will be tough to beat.

The other side of the draw is fascinating with a huge showdown looming in the final four.

Bet on Djokovic vs Karen Khachanov

Novak Djokovic swept into the French Open quarter-finals for the 14th straight year as world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz breezed past Lorenzo Musetti to stay on a collision course with the 22-time Grand Slam champion.

Third seed Djokovic ended the surprise run of Peruvian outsider Juan Pablo Varillas, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, and has yet to drop a set through four matches.

The Serbian great, chasing a third Roland Garros crown, is into a record 17th French Open quarter-final after making the last eight at a major for the 55th time.

“I’m proud of it, but my attention is already in the next match,” said Djokovic, who faces Russian 11th seed Karen Khachanov for a place in the semi-finals, where Alcaraz could await.

“I know what my goal is here. I’m trying to stay mentally the course and of course not look too far.

“Obviously the performance of today gives me a great deal of confidence about how I felt, about how I played.”

Betting R10 on the four favourites will pay back R30.99.
