Bafana Bafana face another do or die qualification match following their home 2-2 draw against Liberia.

BET ON THIS MATCH

It was supposed to be easy.

It was supposed to be a walkover.

But in actual fact, it was easy until Liberia fired back. And instead of a walkover, the Bafana coach Hugo Broos walked out and didn’t come back to fulfil his media duties.

The pressure is on.

South Africa must beat Liberia on Tuesday if they want to feature at Afcon 2023.

Following their shock 2-2 draw against Liberia at the Orlando Stadium on Friday, Bafana Bafana’s qualification hopes hang by thread.

Kick-off is at 6pm (SA time).

With Zimbabwe disqualified, two of Morocco, Liberia and South Africa will progress to the Afcon finals in the Ivory Coast next January-February.

It remains to be seen what changes will be made, if any, to the starting lineup.

Bafana Bafana XI that started against Liberia:

Williams, Morena, Mvala, Xulu, Modiba, Le Roux, Mokoena, Zwane, Hlongwane, Tau, Foster.

Back to Broos and his poor behaviour.

“First of all, you have to forgive me today, I will not give much comment,” said an irritated Broos.

“There is too much disappointment, too much anger in my body that If I should say now what I think, that will not be nice.”

He continued, “I’ve always been ready in the past to answer your questions, even difficult questions. But I hope you can understand that today it is very difficult for me to do that. So again, sorry for that, but I hope when you saw the game and when you saw what happened on the pitch today, you can understand my reaction also. Thank you very much.”

“It was a disappointing game, we were leading 2-0 and lost two points,” said Broos.

“We were too confident and thought we had won the game. It’s football; you can’t predict what will happen. We’ll keep fighting until the end of the qualifiers.”
