Another Soweto Derby takes place this week as Swallows welcome neigbours Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership match
The Dobsonville Stadium on Friday kicks off at 7:30pm.
Swallows edged Chippa United 2-1 away last weekend to end their two-match losing run.
They will be full of expectation as they prepare to face Pirates, who lost to Chiefs last weekend 1-0.
Swallows are 14th and just three points above the relegation zone. But a win will have them level with seventh-placed Sekhukhune United.
So a victory has great reward on Friday.
Ernst Middendorp is expecting a difficult match against Pirates.
“You play Pirates now after they lost, [it will] not [be] an easy game. You must be realistic, if you get something out of that game [against Pirates] you’d have achieved,” Middendorp said.
“I don’t think 30 points will be enough. Maritzburg [United] will get a win … don’t forget about Marumo [Gallants].
“We are six points away from reaching 30 points and we still have to play direct rivals [in Maritzburg and Marumo] in the relegation fight. At the moment we are looking comfortable … goal difference is important for me.”
The Buccaneers are third following the derby defeat but are now five points behind SuperSport United.
The player to watch is Bucs’ Monnapule Saleng.
The attacking playmaker has five goals and four assists in the league this season. He is the perfect foil for Thembinkosi Lorch, who often gets special attention from opposition defences.
