Newcastle United will be out to prove how far they’ve come when they host Liverpool on Saturday.
The Magpies are fourth and on a 17-game unbeaten run (albeit with eight draws) which has equalled their longest ever unbeaten run.
The run started after losing to the Reds in August which the visitors will no doubt remember.
The Magpies move into the top-four is almost solely down to their defence; they have kept ten clean sheets during the 17-match unbeaten streak.
Liverpool finally returned to winning ways against neighbours Everton on Monday. The 2-0 win ended their four-game winless run which also include three blanks. That win means Jürgen Klopp need to try close the nine-point gap to Newcastle if they want to finish fourth.
St. James’ Park has been a happy hunting ground for Liverpool (W3, D2) so that does bode well.
Keep a look out for Alexander Isak who could become the first Newcastle player to score home and away in the same league season against Liverpool since Alan Shearer in 1999/00.
