The start of the new gameweek sees Leeds travel to take on Aston Villa with plenty on the line.
Villa were left blushing as League Two side Stevenage scored two late goals to seal an incredible late 2-1 FA Cup. It was a shock defeat for Villa, who have climbed to 11th in the league after three wins and a draw in their last five outings.
They host Leeds United who they are unbeaten against in each of the last four PL meetings (W2, D2); three of those matches included a clean sheet.
In all, the home side have lost just once in the league under new manager Unai Emery and that was against Liverpoo. They were held to a 1-1 draw last time out against Leeds’ relegation rivals Wolves.
Leeds endured a FA Cup nightmare of their own on Sunday when they needed two late goals to salvage a 2-2 draw away to struggling Championship side Cardiff City. Jesse Marsch’s side have now conceded 2+ goals in four of their last five competitive matches.
Coming into the gameweek two points clear of the relegation zone – albeit with a game in hand – it’s easy to see why Marsch is fighting for his job.
Leeds have lost just one of their last six PL away games against Villa (W3, D2).
Although being linked with a move away, Villa striker Danny Ings is in red-hot form with five goals in his last seven games.
Rodrigo continues to be key for Leeds, he has scored 40% (10/25) of their league goals so far.
