The Reds will come into this fixture looking to bounce back after they were on the wrong side of a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Arsenal. Liverpool fired back into life when they smashed Rangers 7-1 on Wednesday.
City, meanwhile, are on a three-game winning run in the league after they hammered Southampton 4-0. The Citizens have been scoring for fun recently and even managed to rest Erling Haaland in the midweek Champions League’s draw.
Liverpool’s league season has been woeful and they start this clash in 10th place with just 10 points from eight matches. City’s win over the Saints saw them remain in second place on the table with 23 points.
When the two sides faced off in the Premier League last season, nothing could separate the two teams as both home and away fixtures ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
Jürgen Klopp will be without the services of three players; Naby Keïta, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who are all out with injuries.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola is only expected to be without Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips, who are sidelined with a groin and shoulder injuries respectively.
Darwin Núñez will be brimming with confidence heading into the encounter after he got his name on the scoresheet against Arsenal to end his three-match scoring drought.
Phil Foden has been in some form for City in recent games after he netted a goal in their win over Southampton to take his tally to six goals and three assists in nine league matches.
