Kevin de Bruyne is now the leading all-time assist maker for Manchester City following the 4-0 win over Southampton.

The Belgium international moved past Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and former teammate David Silva on the assist charts in the Premier League. Now, he has moved above Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp into fifth overall as De Bruyne has 95 assists in the top flight.

Incredibly, De Bruyne has 11 assists already this season.

Frank Lampard, who managed 102 assists in his career at West Ham, Chelsea and City is next followed by Wayne Rooney on 103.

Cesc Fabregas is on 111 with Ryan Giggs on top at 162.

Pep Guardiola wants even more from his star player.

“Of course for Kevin, a player like him, he has this threat, moments in behind with the space helps a lot,” Guardiola said.

“Kevin makes again or four assists but he can play better, today was not the best Kevin we know. He can put his mates in front of the keeper most of the time. He was not ready in the positions we should find him. [But] to have Erling, Julian, Phil making movements behind, so important for players like Kevin.”
