Kaizer Chiefs will aim for their third successive win in the DStv Premiership when they travel to the DHL Stadium to face Stellenbosch FC on Sunday afternoon.
Stellies comes into the encounter on a three-game unbeaten run in the league after they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Maritzburg United through an own goal by Thabo Moloisane and goals from Antonio Van Wyk and Sinethemba Mngomezulu at the Danie Craven Stadium on Tuesday.
Chiefs, meanwhile, are on a two-match winning run after they edged out Soweto rivals Swallows FC 2-1 at the Dobsonville Stadium when goals from Bonfils Bimenyimana and Keagan Dolly cancelled out Waseem Isaacs’ 68th-minute goal.
The win sees Stellenbosch move up to sixth place on the table – level on 13 points with seventh-placed Royal AM, while Amakhosi climbed up to fifth place on the log level on 14 points with fourth-placed Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United in third.
Stellies will have to upper hand over Amakhosi heading into this fixture after they did the double over Chiefs in the DStv Premiership last season, winning the home and away leg by a scoreline of 1-0.
Steve Barker will continue to be without the services of winger Juan Carlos Ortíz, who remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Arthur Zwane will once again be without Lehlogonolo Matlou and Khama Billiat, who are out of action due to their respective injuries.
Stellies’ youngster Antonio Van Wyk will be looking to build on his previous performance after he got his name on the scoresheet in their win over Maritzburg United to take his tally to two goals in nine matches.
Like Van Wyk, Keagan Dolly also netted just his second goal of the campaign for Amakhosi when he scored the winning goal with a superb free-kick to beat goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala from just outside the box.
