Arsenal will renew their rivalry with Liverpool when the two sides square off in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Gunners come into this clash on a two-game winning run after they claimed the bragging rights in the north London derby by securing a 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from their two-game winless run after they were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion.
The win for Arsenal saw them remain at the summit of the league standings with 21 points from eight matches, while Liverpool’s draw sees 11 points back in ninth.
When the two sides met in the Premier League last season, Liverpool came out on top in both the home and away fixtures by claiming a comfortable 4-0 win in the first leg before the Gunners conceded a 2-0 defeat in the return leg as the Reds walked away with a maximum of six points.
Mikel Arteta is expected to be without Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe due to injury, while Reiss Nelson could be in line to make his first appearance of the season after returning from injury.
Jurgen Klopp will be without three key players, including Naby Keïta, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all through injury.
Gabriel Martinelli will look to continue his superb form for the Gunners, having already scored three goals in eight games, while also registering an assist in his last outing for Arsenal against Tottenham.
Roberto Firmino has been one of Liverpool’s standing-out performers in somewhat of a difficult campaign for them, having netted a brace in their draw against Brighton to take his tally to five goals in six matches.
