Marcelo Allende’s stoppage time goal helped Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-0 win over Amazulu in the PSL.
The victory was the defending champion’s third in a row and moved them five clear of Pirates at the top. The Buccaneers do have a game in hand but will be wary of trying to haul in Sundowns, who have gotten over their slow start.
The clash was ex-Cape Town City star Terrence Mashego’s first in the colours of sundowns.
“As a player, I need to be prepared all times. So for me I’ve been prepared since I came to Sundowns,” Mashego told Sundowns TV after the match.
“From day one I was prepared, so when they told me I am in the 18 [matchday squad squad], I was prepared.
“And the coach called me I was prepared to deliver.
“It was a special feeling, I don’t want to lie I mean I believe it’s every child’s dream to represent his mother [hometown] team. For me it’s a special feeling.”
