Chelsea have stunned their fan base but announcing that Thomas Tuchel has been relieved of his duties.
Tuchel was sacked after Chelsea 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night in the Champions League opening round.
Chelsea said on confirming the news: “As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the club … the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.”
Brighton boss Graham Potter is believed to be their first choice while the club will also explore bringing either Mauricio Pochettino or Zinedine Zidane to London.
Todd Boehly has axed Tuchel just three months after completing his takeover of the club.
Boehly is still acting as sporting director having moved on director Marina Granovskaia, chairman Bruce Buck and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech this summer in a complete overhaul of the Roman Abramovich era.
Under Tuchel this summer, the club spent a one-window Premier League record sum of £273m to sign defenders Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucarella and former Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Chelsea are sixth on the Premier League table.
