AmaZulu, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat in the league following their narrow 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows, with Pule Mmodi’s 27th-minute goal proving the difference at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday evening.

When the two teams met in the home and away fixtures in the DStv Premiership last season, AmaZulu came out the better team by claiming a 2-0 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium before playing out to a goalless draw at Cape Town Stadium in the return leg.

However, when Usuthu met City in the MTN8 last season, the Citizens came out on top after claiming a 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals to progress to the semi-finals on 15 August 2021.

Wayde Lekay will be relishing the chance to make his debut in the MTN8 for City as he looks to open his goalscoring account after failing to do so in his first three appearances for his new club.

For Usuthu, Gabadinho Mhango will look to emulate his league form in the top eight tournament. He has already scored three goals so far this season, having already scored against City too.
