Liverpool will look to put their poor start to the Premier League season behind them when they go in search of their first win when they welcome Bournemouth to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds come into this fixture on a three-game winless run in the league following their shock 2-1 defeat to rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford. It’s the first time since Jurgen Klopp took over that Liverpool haven’t won a game from their opening trio of outings.
Bournemouth suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.
This match features the home side in 16th and their guests in 15th.
“It’s not the nicest thing to look at, that’s clear,” said Jurgen Klopp on his side slipping to 16th after three games.
“It’s obvious we are in a tricky situation injury-wise, we get through the week with 14-15 senior players available, we have to make sure none of them get injured because there’s no real options left anymore,” he added.
“I’m concerned about our situation, it’s not easy at the moment but that’s how it is. We prepare now for Bournemouth, Newcastle and Everton – that’s how it is. We can play better, we know that, but we had a lot of good moments and performances today.
“From tomorrow, we will fight against it.”
History will be on Liverpool’s side coming into this match after they did the double over Bournemouth last season.
Klopp will be expected to be without three crucial players for their upcoming fixture as Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out due to injury while Darwin Nunez will continue to serve his match suspension after picking up a red card against Crystal Palace, while Scott Parker will be equipped with his entire squad for the encounter on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah has started the campaign off slowly but he gradually starting to find his form after scoring his second goal of the season in their recent defeat to Manchester United on Monday.
Jefferson Lerma will be relishing the chance to get his name on the score sheet against the Reds with his last goal coming on the opening day of the campaign in their victory over Aston Villa.
