Cape Town City will go in search of their first win when they travel to AmaZulu on Saturday after falling back-to-back defeats in the DStv Premiership.

AmaZulu comes into this game on a high after they came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win over SuperSport United after Gabadinho Mhango and Bongi Ntuli cancelled out Thapelo Maseko’s 56th-minute opener to hand their side all three points on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, City are looking to bounce back after they were forced to endure a second straight defeat in the league after falling to a 3-2 loss against Swallows FC.

AmaZulu’s win over SuperSport saw them climb up to third place on the log with four points after two games, while City’s defeat leaves them languishing second from the bottom.

“I fully understand why people might have been surprised when the club released 15 players from a squad that has recently qualified for the (CAF) champions league but the club and the board have made their intentions clear with the type of signings they’re bringing in,” AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter said

“We have brought it a lot of quality rather than quantity and it shows at training, it’s a level which I’ve never seen before.

“We have brought in players that have won things before and we’re hoping that rubs off on everyone else as well and with that mentality, I don’t see a reason why the team won’t be challenging on all fronts this upcoming season.

“AmaZulu is a big club and right now we have a chairman that is very ambitious. I could sense when I came in that their achievements with the previous coach weren’t enough.

“I know exactly what I’ve gotten myself into agreeing to join the club but in order for one to take up this sort of job you need a certain level of confidence and I’m confident of the team around me and I don’t see why we can’t finish the year with a trophy in our cabinet.

Coming into this fixture, AmaZulu will have the upper hand over City after they snatched four points out of a possible six last campaign following a 2-0 win in the first leg before they played out to a goalless draw in the return leg.

Ususthu coach Brandon Truter and City’s Eric Tinkler will be delighted with the fact that neither team’s camps have reported any new injuries or suspensions for the upcoming fixture at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Patrick Fisher has already shown glimpses of what is yet to come from the fullback after his impressive debut for City against Swallows FC, playing like a seasoned veteran in the left back position.

Gabadinho Mhango has hit the ground running at Usuthu this campaign after scoring the equalising goal in his side’s comeback victory over SuperSport to open his account for his new club.
