Manchester United will be determined to secure their first win in the Premier League when they travel to the Brentford Community Stadium to take on Brentford on Saturday evening.
The home side will look to continue where they left off against Leicester.
They came from two goals down to hold Leicester City to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium thanks to second-half goals from Ivan Toney and Josh Da Silva.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be looking to put their opening match woes behind them. A shock 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford after conceding two goals from Pascal Groß was the worst possible start to life in the dugout for Erik ten Hag.
“We have to win every game, that has to be the attitude. It is clear we are not happy with this game, we have to take the lessons and move forwards,” said the Man Utd manager.
“We dropped down in belief during the first half and that cannot happen,” he added.
“I can understand that after last year but it’s not necessary as they are good players. Self-belief is from yourself, bring it on the pitch.
“Ronaldo is maybe in team training for 10 days, that’s too short for 90 minutes and the reason we didn’t start him. He has to do a little bit more to get fit. This will help him and he will be better next week.
“It was clear to see that second half we were better in the midfield with Eriksen deeper and Ronaldo up.”
Manchester United were the dominant side over Brentford last season after they took a total of six points from six in the two-legged tie following a 3-1 win at the Brentford Community Stadium before cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the return leg.
Brentford will be without three key players, including Kristoffer Ajer, Sergi Canos and Ethan Pinnock, who are all sidelined with injuries.
Ten Hag will continue to be without the services of Anthony Martial, who has a thigh injury and Brandon Williams, who remains sidelined with his respective injury, while youngster Facundo Pellistri is doubtful for the encounter due to an ankle injury.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney will look to make it two goals in two games this season after he got his name on the score sheet to help his side earn a point against Leicester City in his previous match.
However, all the attention will be on former Brentford midfielder and Manchester United’s new signing Christian Eriksen as he returns to the Brentford Community Stadium for the first time since making six appearances for the Bees in which he claimed two assists last season.
