Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly rejected a £30 million bid from Premier League champions Manchester City for left back Marc Cucurella.

The Seagulls rejected City’s bid as it was well short of their asking price and the player’s valuation which is understood to be in the region of £50m.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a highly successful debut season in the Premier League after he joined the club from the Spanish side Getafe in a deal worth around £15m last summer.

Cucurella fastly adapted to life in the Premier League and played a crucial role in helping them secure their highest-ever finish in the league, while also walking away with the Brighton Player of the Season award for 2021-22.

City are looking to bolster their defensive department, especially their left back position with Oleksandr Zinchenko on his way out of the club to join rivals Arsenal.

However, Brighton are reluctant to sell Cucurella and it would take a huge sum of money to let him go as he still has four years remaining on his contract with the club
