Barcelona are ready to make a £60-million bid for Brazilian Raphinha in an effort to beat Chelsea to the signing of the star Leeds United player.

Raphinha has been Leeds’most outstanding attacking player since joining the club two seasons ago for a fee reported to be in the region of £17 million, scoring 17 Premier League goals.

The Brazilian has since attracted interest from several clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona after he netted 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season while helping Leeds avoid relegation.

Arsenal were the first to be linked to the 25-year-old, where reports suggested that Chelsea were the closest to completing a deal for the attacker.

Barcelona have also maintained their interest in Raphina throughout the summer but they have consistently fallen short of Leeds’ asking price.

However, the Catalan giants have reportedly submitted a fresh bid for Raphinha but it has been established that the offer is still below Leeds’ valuation, while the Yorkshire club are keen to follow through on a £60m deal that has been agreed with Chelsea.

It’s a move that could yet see a number of twists and turns before he appears in his new club’s colours. Will it be Chelsea or Barcelona?
