Royal AM will be aiming for a CAF Champions League spot when they play Orlando Pirates in their final game of the campaign at the Chatsworth Stadium on Friday evening.

Thwihli Thwahla are looking to bounce back in their final game of the campaign after they conceded a 3-2 defeat to champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a thrilling encounter at the Chatsworth Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Royal AM currently occupies fifth place in the league standings with 46 points from 29 games, trailing fourth place Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC in third place by a point and three behind Cape Town City in second place.

Orlando Pirates will come into this match high in confidence after ending their four-game winless run by claiming a comfortable 4-1 victory over Maritzburg United at the Orlando Stadium through goals from Thembinkosi Lorch, Kwame Peprah, Deon Hotto and Kabelo Dlamini on Tuesday evening.

The win leaves the Buccaneers in sixth place in the league standings with 43 points from 28 games, three behind Royal AM and four behind Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC, with two games in hand.

Royal AM coach John Maduka says: “We still have a chance, this what God provided for us, this game of course we wanted to win.

“In as much as we wanted to win it didn’t happen, we have another chance.

“We must make sure we grab with both hands, we’re going to play against another very difficult team, it’s not going to be easy, it’s very important for us to play throughout the match.

Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch adds that his team is tired at this stage of the campaign.

“It wasn’t an easy game and you can see the body is tired from the final,” says Lorch.

“But the most important thing is that we won the game, we created a lot of chances and we converted them.

“We need to push, there’s nothing much that we can do, we need to push and get maximum points, which we got today, so the focus is on the next game to KZN, it’s going to be a tough game, so we need to prepare ourselves.”

In head-to-head stats between the two teams, Orlando Pirates have claimed three wins out of the last five meetings, while the other two fixtures have ended in two 1-1 draws.

John Maduka and Mandla Ncikazi are both expected to have a fully fit side for their clash at the Chatsworth Stadium with no injuries or suspensions to report in both camps.

Victor Letsoalo will be out to continue his recent form in the league after the striker netted his 15th league goal of the season in their defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Monday afternoon.

Thembinkosi Lorch has been in fine form for Pirates in recent games after producing a Man of the Match performance in his last two appearances after finding the back of the net against RS Berkane in the Caf Confederation Cup final followed by a goal and three assists against Maritzburg United on Tuesday.
