SuperSport United will look to flex their muscle against Platinum City Rovers when they meet in the Nedbank Cup last 16 clash at the Profert Olën Park in Potchefstroom on Saturday afternoon.

Platinum City Rovers made their way to this stage of the competition after they secured a 3-2 win on penalties over Sekhukhune United after the game ended 1-1 after extra time at the Profert Olën Park when Simphiwe Ndlovu last gasp goal cancelled out Yusuf Maart’s third-minute opener.

SuperSport United will be looking to build on their recent 2-0 victory over AmaZulu in their last DStv Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend when goals from Jess Donn and Iqraam Rayners saw United walk away with all three points.

Matsatsantsa progressed to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after Iqraam Rayners scored a superb goal to see his side a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on 9 February.

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo: “We’ve watched a few of their games and they are a very dangerous team that have a few experienced players, ex-PSL players like Thabiso Nkoana, who was previously with us, as well as Olaleng Shaku from Baroka and Oupa Manyisa.

“So they are quite a formidable team that you can’t take for granted. We need to prepare very well and make sure that we go out there and give a very good performance to get to the next round.”

The knockout fixture on Saturday will be the first meeting between GladAfrica Championship outfit Platinum City Rovers and DStv Premiership side SuperSport United.

Simphiwe Ndlovu will be hoping to continue his scoring form in the competition and add to his goal tally he score against Sekhukhune United in the opening round of the competition.

Iqraam Rayners will be aiming to maintain his current form in front of goal after he scored the goal that saw them qualify for the last 16 as well as getting on the score sheet in their previous match against the Team of Choice.

Ashwin Sutton and Kaitano Tembo will both have fully fit squads for their last 16 encounter with no injuries or suspension ahead of the clash on Saturday.
