Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City will be keen to extend their unbeaten runs in the DStv Premiership when the two teams face off at the Orlando Stadium.
Orlando Pirates will be hoping to bounce back and return to winning ways following their thrilling 3-2 defeat to Al-Ittihad Tripoli in their CAF Confederation Cup group stage game at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Buccaneers currently occupy second place on the table with 31 points from 20 games, 17 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, having won seven games, drew 10 and only conceded three defeats.
Cape Town City will look to secure back to back victories in the league when they face Pirates following their 1-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium last Sunday afternoon through a late second-half goal by Khanyiso Mayo.
The win saw the Citizens move up to ninth place in the league standings with 26 points from 18 matches after they won six, drew eight and suffered four defeats.
Although Bandile Shandu has been the man in form for Pirates in recent games, he is still one goal behind their top scorer Deon Hotto, who currently sits on five goals in all competitions, while City star Mduduzi Mdatsene continues to lead City’s goalscoring charts with seven goals in 23 appearances.
Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi will be boosted by the fact that he’ll have a fully fit squad for the tie with no injuries or suspensions, while City mentor Eric Tinkler remains without the services of veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet, who continues to recover from a torn muscle.
