Senegal will be looking to end Burkina Faso’s journey in the Africa Cup of Nations when they meet at the Stade omnisport de Douala on Wednesday evening.
Burkina Faso made their way to this stage of the tournament after they narrowly beat Tunisia 1-0 at the Roumde Adjia Stadium on Saturday as Dango Ouattara’s goal proved to be the difference.
Senegal reached the final four of the tournament after substitutes Cheikhou Kouyate and Ismaila Sarr made decisive contributions in helping their team beat Equatorial Guinea 3-1.
Burkina Faso have a massive issue in that Dango Ouattara will miss this match. Their most in-form player scored in the quarter-finals but will leave a hole in his side’s attacking plans as they vye for a place in the final.
Conversely, Ismaïla Sarr returned to the Senegalese side with a bang after he netted the final goal in their win over Equatorial Guinea on Sunday after coming on as a second half substitute, putting his injury worries behind him. It’s certainly advantage Senegal in those stakes.
Burkina Faso boss Kamou Malo will have a fully fit squad for this encounter but will be without star player Dango Ouattara, who picked up a red card in their previous game, while Senegal’s Aliou Cissé is expected to have a fully fit squad after the return of Sarr.
Senegal start as heavy favourites with odds of 1.79 while Burkina Faso are tipped at 5.74 to win in regulation time.
The draw is currently at 2.97/1.
